  • Verizon, VMware offer a cloud platform to enterprises
Verizon Communications has announced a partnership with VMware on a software platform designed to make it easier and safer for companies to move some of their computing functions to the cloud while maintaining their in-house systems. Verizon will host the VMware platform in some of its data centers starting early next year, an executive said. Enterprises will be able to use "existing tool sets and frameworks that they use internally and use them to move [workloads] into the Verizon cloud," said Verizon IT executive Joe Crawford.
