Over the course of 2007, I have been pleased to deliver you the industry news that matters to your business. Part I of this eHealth SmartBrief special year-end report rounds up the most important trends, stories and events of the past year. Part II, which will hit your inbox on Thursday, will provide a glimpse into what's in store for 2008.
The year began with news of the Santa Barbara RHIO failure, which the industry mourned briefly before scrambling to discern any emerging lessons. Alaska marked the 50th state to clear the path for e-prescribing, a milestone that could usher in a new era of efficiency and safety in prescription information exchange. And states gained esteem and visibility from the federal government and other experts as the best way to advance health IT efforts.
This year's conferences took health IT industry members to the World Health Care Conference, the 16th Annual Partnering for Electronic Delivery of Information in Healthcare conference, the 2007 HIMSS Annual Conference, MedInfo 2007, the Health 2.0 conference, the American Health Information Management Association conference and the eHealth Initiative Annual Conference. It was an exciting year, indeed.
