Democrats in the Senate are pushing for the climate bill's passage in "early spring" of 2010, said Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., further muddling expectations for a U.N. conference on global warming set for next month. Kerry last week expressed hope that a draft version of a compromise climate measure could be worked out before the international summit. AAR releases monthly Rail Time Indicators report, video
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) has reported that freight rail carloadings were down 15.3% in October (at 1,100,714 carloads) compared with October 2008, marking the twelfth straight month of double-digit declines. The Rail Time Indicators Report, released this week, comprises monthly rail traffic data framed with other key economic indicators to show how freight rail ties into the broader U.S. economy. Both the monthly Rail Time Indicators report and a video summary are available on the AAR Web site.
