- Hawker Beechcraft positioned for growth, says CEO
Hawker Beechcraft posted a net loss of $683.9 million for the third quarter, but the company's CEO said the airplane manufacturer is "well positioned for growth." Bill Boisture predicted Hawker's revenue will improve in the second half of 2011 but said he will continue to cut costs until that point. - NetJets could fly to profit in 2010 as companies spend more
Despite losing more than $500 million in the first nine months of 2009, NetJets Inc. will likely return to profit in 2010 as corporations spend more on transportation and companies steer away from private ownership of aircraft, according to its owner, Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Analysts agreed that U.S. firms may turn to NetJets fractional jet ownership as the economy recovers, because, as one said, "it's seen as less piggish." Bloomberg

- Safety foundation urges expanded runway at Mont. airport
A safety foundation urged the county to approve an extended runway at the Ravalli County Airport in Hamilton, Mont. The runway expansion at the general aviation airport would build a 5,200-foot runway slightly northeast of the existing 4,200-foot runway. The 1934 airport complies with Federal Aviation Administration standards on runway length, but the FAA said the runway and taxiway are too close together. Ravalli Republic (Hamilton, Mont.)
