Broadband for Business: SUPERCOMM 2009 Preview
Event will span the broadband spectrum.
SUPERCOMM 2009, which is set for Oct. 21 to 23 in Chicago at McCormick Place, is quickly approaching, and all of us at the dailyLead want our readers to be prepared for the show, jointly owned by USTelecom and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA). This year's event is designed to help broadband-technology stakeholders successfully navigate today's competitive marketplace. "The focus on broadband technology has become critical to our future both here and abroad, and it is the mission and strategic intent of SUPERCOMM to help accelerate and advance this technology," said Walter McCormick, USTelecom president.

Living up to its tag line "B4B," or Broadband for Business, SUPERCOMM is bringing together a strong cast of keynote speakers who are all driving decision makers in the broadband market. The show will kick off Wednesday, Oct. 21, with keynotes from Verizon Communications CEO Ivan Seidenberg, followed by speeches from CenturyLink Executive Vice Chairman Tom Gerke and TiVo CEO Tom Rogers. The keynote session on Day 1 will be topped off with ATIS' Executive Keynote Panel: The Network. On Thursday, AT&T Operations President and CEO John Stankey will take the keynote stage, followed by Cox Communications President Patrick Esser, Chief Technology Officer of the United States Aneesh Chopra and Nokia Siemens Networks North American President Sue Spradley. The keynote lineup stays strong on the final day of the show with speeches scheduled from Deutsche Telekom Chief Operating Officer Hamid Akhavan, the City of Chicago's chief information officer, Hardik Bhatt, and NBC Universal General Counsel Richard Cotton.

To help attendees achieve the full understanding of how broadband technology is being integrated into people's business and personal lives, Broadband Life will debut at this year's event. The forum, according to show organizers, will highlight products, services and education as they relate to broadband-powered home entertainment, health care, business, environmental awareness and education.

The SUPERCOMM Eos Awards are expanding this year to recognize even more products, services and network designs, with a broader category list that now includes international development, green services and specialized e-services.

In anticipation of the show, we are pleased to offer USTelecom dailyLead subscribers a glimpse into how the conference topics relate to the latest news in the broadband industry. USTelecom dailyLead subscribers also are being offered an opportunity to register for SUPERCOMM for free.
