- Data center, wireless services drive Cincinnati Bell's growth
Cincinnati Bell's data-center business grew 7% in the third quarter, and the company gained 6,000 smartphone subscribers, which helped drive data revenue higher from a year earlier, the telecom said Wednesday. Net income, also helped by a cost-cutting program, increased 5% as the regional carrier also reorganized its long- and short-term debt to under $1.9 billion, a 10-year low. The Cincinnati Enquirer

Comcast announced that it soon would offer its video-on-demand subscribers 10 major Hollywood movies on the same day that they become available as DVD releases. - Experts say firms to wed internal, external clouds

- European lawmakers compromise on Web piracy, rights
The European Parliament today agreed on compromise legislation that sought to strike a balance between governments demanding stiff penalties for illegal file-sharing and groups calling for Internet access to be considered an unalienable right. The deal could finally lead to approval of a major overhaul of Europe's telecom laws.
