- Florida McDonald's to reward good grades with Happy Meals
McDonald's stores in Seminole County, Fla., are working with the county's school board on a program that rewards students for good grades and school attendance with Happy Meals. The "report card incentive" replaces an earlier program sponsored by Pizza Hut eateries and offers students the option to order low-fat milk or apple juice in place of soda. NYTimes.com

- Topco unveils nutrition index for consumers, grocers
Topco Associates announced it will launch a food-scoring index that uses an algorithm incorporating 30 nutrient factors to rate food and beverage products on a scale of 1 to 100. The Overall Nutritional Quality index, developed by Yale Griffin Prevention Research Center health and nutrition experts, is designed to help consumers make more informed food purchases. - California farm unveils goat milk cheese
La Clarine Farm, a biodynamic farm in San Francisco, has
produced its first goat's milk cheese, called Sierra Mountain Tomme. The cheese, available for a limited time, uses raw milk from the farm's herd of goats, allowing farmers total control over the animals' health and natural growth. San Francisco Chronicle

- Nestle CEO: Jenny Craig mulls over U.K. market
Nestle's Jenny Craig weight-loss division is considering expanding into the U.K. market and has been performing better than expected in terms of sales, CEO Peter Brabeck-Letmathe said. He added that Nestle remains interested in buying back Hershey Co.'s U.S. rights to KitKat and Rolo products but made it clear that the company doesn't want to buy Hershey itself. Bloomberg
