- Disney Channel rides "HSM2" to top viewership role in 2007
Fueled by the incredible buzz surrounding its "High School Musical 2," the commercial-free Disney Channel outdrew all cable networks in 2007 for the first time. Disney averaged 2.694 million total viewers in prime time, according to Nielsen data, while USA Network ended the year second overall, but first among the ad-supported cable nets. - Landmark's Anstrom says $5 billion is a good deal for Weather Channel
When considering The Weather Channel's online and mobile assets as well as its profitability, the network's reported $5 billion asking price is more than fair, according to Decker Anstrom, president and CEO of TWC parent Landmark Communications. - Suddenlink, KCEN-TV reach retransmission deal
After dropping the carriage of LIN TV's NBC affiliate KXAN-TV Austin, Texas, on Dec. 31 for lacking a retransmission-consent deal with the outlet, Suddenlink Communications has signed a long-term agreement to distribute NBC affiliate KCEN-TV Temple, Texas. In a move to whip up excitement around the upcoming Miss America pageant Jan. 26 on TLC, the cable channel tonight will debut a series titled "Miss America: Reality Check."
