- Bad behavior common among nurses, doctors, survey finds
A survey by the American College of Physician Executives found more than 97% of respondents reported behavior problems among physicians and nurses. - Report lists cancer types most affected by obesity
The American Institute for Cancer Research has released a report linking about 100,500 new cancer cases to obesity every year. The report lists breast, endometrial and kidney cancers among the cancer types most strongly linked to extra weight. USA TODAY

- Obesity a risk factor for hospitalization from H1N1 flu
About 58% of people hospitalized for H1N1 influenza are obese, putting obesity on par with pregnancy as a risk factor for flu complications, study data showed. - Nurses raise kidney disease, transplant awareness
Nurses and social workers who held informal gatherings with friends and families of chronic kidney disease patients raised awareness and promoted kidney donations, according to a study done in The Netherlands. Participants said they were better informed about kidney disease and within three months of attending a meeting, in each case, someone from the patient's circle of friends offered to donate a kidney. - U.S. data show 32% of deaths occur in hospital
U.S. data showed 32% of all deaths in 2007 occurred in a hospital and the top cause of patient death was septicemia. The U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality report said the average hospital cost for a patient who died was almost three times as much as for patients discharged alive. ABC News/Reuters

- FDA program to curb medication errors
The FDA plans to better prevent errors in dosing and dispensing of pharmaceuticals through the Safe Use program. As part of the program, the agency released guidance on dosage for makers of over-the-counter drugs that come with droppers or other dosing devices. The Washington Post
