Limited Brands, a major U.S.-based fashion and beauty company, said it plans to open Victoria's Secret stores in the U.K. and other strategic markets. - Free shipping could help fix sliding online sales numbers
Online retail sales have, for the first time on record, declined for two quarters in a row, according to a report by ComScore. "The good news is that these declines may finally be in our rearview mirror, as we anticipate marginally positive growth for the fourth quarter," said Gian Fulgoni, chairman of the research firm. The report cites free shipping as one strategy online retailers can take to turn sales around. Fulgoni said retailers that do not offer free shipping will be at a disadvantage this holiday season. Overstock.com returns to positive revenue growth: Salt Lake City-based Overstock.com was able to substantially narrow its losses in the third quarter as the online retailer reported a 4% increase in revenue. "It's nice to be back in positive growth," said Patrick Byrne, chairman and CEO at Overstock.com. The retailer posted a third-quarter loss of $787,000, down from a $1.6 million loss last year.
