- Embarq aims to trim expenses
Embarq has announced plans to trim its work force 3% to 4% to bring down expenses. "Our rationale is that to ensure the continued success of our enterprise we are constantly evaluating the size and placement of our work force, including the ways we staff and prioritize work," said Embarq spokesman Charles Fleckenstein. - Analysis: New Vodafone chief may take alternative path
Reports indicate that Vodafone's recently appointed chief executive officer, Vittorio Colao, is considering a management shake-up that could include the appointment of two senior executives to oversee the telecom's expanding Asia and Africa businesses. Nickelodeon has inked a multiplatform-marketing agreement with AT&T that will, beginning next week, play out on the network's tween-appealing "iCarly" show. - Opinion: Devices not good for broadcast's big picture
Although some parts of the unused broadcast spectrum are earmarked for use by the military, TV stations and the police, its commercial use for unlicensed devices is considered highly problematic by broadcasters, who believe the devices will disrupt TV service.
