- Small business sees catch-22 in lending environment
Joe Daniels, director of the Center for Global and Economic Studies at Marquette University, characterizes the small-business credit dilemma as a "chicken-and-egg" issue. Small businesses say they need loans to spur recovery, and banks say lending will not loosen up until the economy improves. National Federation of Independent Business chief economist Bill Dunkelberg says the current economy mirrors the 1983-1991 expansion-to-recession cycle when credit became difficult. - Senate climate change bill gaining momentum
Sen. Barbara Boxer, chairwoman, Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, has announced that her committee will begin consideration of climate change legislation in early to mid-November. Boxer further announced that the committee will hold three days of hearings on the measure beginning Oct. 27.

Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo attendees will get a firsthand look at how wireless communications and telematics will give the independent aftermarket service providers a competitive edge at the "Shop of Tomorrow." Live demonstrations will take place at booth #2866 in the upper level of the Sands Expo Center at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and Wednesday, Nov. 4.
