- Disability-based EEOC claims may grow as economy worsens
The number of cases of alleged workplace bias in Colorado grew 46% in the past five years, nearly three times the national rate over the same period, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. More residents with multiple sclerosis also alleged discrimination based on disability or employers' fears of future disability. The Denver Post

- Reforms may be on horizon for Texas accountability measures
Some state leaders are urging Texas lawmakers to reduce punishments for schools that fail to make adequate yearly progress under NCLB in just one subgroup. "We think one of the great problems with the current system is the single trip-wire problem," said former Lt. Gov. Bill Ratliff, who helped draft the accountability measures when he was a legislator. "For an entire school district, an entire campus to get marked down simply by one group ... I don't see that that meets the fairness doctrine." Houston Chronicle/The Associated Press
