- Segregation alive in today's schools, author says
Education writer Jonathan Kozol, whose new book, "Shame of the Nation," points to a new racial segregation in America's schools, believes more schools need to integrate and use innovative programs. - Mariemont names two superintendent finalists
Paul Imhoff, a Madeira City Schools assistant superintendent, and Keith Kelly, assistant superintendent for Human Resources and Business Operations for Sycamore Community School District, are finalists for the chief executive slot in Ohio's Mariemont City School District. - Children Now to study educational shows
Programming watchdog Children Now has said it will perform a study on the educational value of kids' shows that call themselves educational. "We want to make sure kids have access to quality educational programming," said Children Now VP Patti Miller. - Student clothing choices scrutinized
Akron, Ohio, school officials have decided to take a more strict approach to the dress code, saying students need to focus on what they learn, not their attire. A task force, comprised of parents, staff and a board member, will be appointed by the middle of next month to develop a dress code and separate uniform guidelines for elementary and middle school students.
