- Time Warner Cable honing new advertising platform
Time Warner Cable CEO Glen Britt said his company was working with other cable companies, networks, advertisers and ad agencies on a common platform designed to take advantage of opportunities in interactive TV advertising. Using digital set-top boxes, Time Warner Cable and others in the industry are working on better solutions to measure ad-campaign results, which could allow cable companies to reap advertising revenue on a national platform. - Window for watching "live" shows now at 72 hours
With an estimated 17% of U.S. households owning DVRs, counting viewers who watch shows such as "The Office" in a downloaded mode has become a priority for networks, advertisers and agencies. In order to account for those viewers, the new phrase being bandied about during the current upfront is "live plus three," which means advertisers and broadcasters have agreed to count viewers who have watched a show within a 72-hour window of its initial airing.
