British brand Burberry, maker of the iconic trench coat, is looking online for its next generation of aficionados. - Wal-Mart employs holiday crowd-control plan
Wal-Mart has implemented a crowd-control plan this holiday season, designed to keep shoppers and employees safe from incidents such as last year's Black Friday incident that resulted in the death of a worker in New York. Most of the company's discount stores will be opening on Thanksgiving at 6 a.m., and will stay open through the Black Friday sales, to avoid a sudden onslaught of bargain shoppers. The PMA Annual Promotion & Marketing Law Conference wrapped up Friday Nov. 6 in Chicago and was heralded as a great success by all attendees. The 500-plus registrants were treated to presentations by the Diva of Sweepstakes Law, Linda Goldstein of Manatt, Phelps, Iowa's Attorney General Tom Miller, Luis G. Rivera Marín, Secretary of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico's Department of Consumer Affairs, announcing the newly revised PR Sweepstakes laws, and representatives from over 100 law firms and 50-plus in-house brand counsels.
